In a recent Poll, it emerged that more people recognise Banksy’s “Kate Moss” painting than the Mona Lisa!
Some might say that this is yet more evidence of the “Dumbing down” phenomena which is taking the world by storm…
But the other side of this is actually quite positive.
It seems that more and more people are becoming interested in art and purchasing it because they actually appreciate it, rather than seeing it merely as an investment or commodity.
This could indicate that a whole new wave of Art Fans have come along and will hopefully rid the Art World of its often felt elitism.
Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before Art Students in college dorms take down their Dali’s and Escher’s and stick up Banksy Posters!
